Description

The Qutub Minar, also spelled Qutb Minar, is a minaret and "victory tower" that forms part of the Qutb complex, which lies at the site of Delhi's oldest fortified city, Lal Kot, founded by the Tomar Rajputs. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Mehrauli area of South Delhi, India. The tower stands at a magnificent height of 72.5 meters (238 feet), making it the tallest brick minaret in the world. Its construction was started by Qutb-ud-din Aibak in 1199 and completed by later rulers.
